This course shows you how to move beyond raw datasets and begin uncovering patterns, relationships, anomalies, and early insights through thoughtful questioning, statistical summaries, and purposeful visualisation. Positioned between data preparation and advanced modelling, EDA helps you understand what your data is really saying — and what it might be hiding.
Across the units, you’ll explore distributions, correlations, grouping and segmentation, missing data, bias, and assumptions using Python, SQL, and visual tools. You’ll practise distinguishing observations from true insights, supporting claims with evidence, and refining findings into clear, responsible narratives. Through a hands-on capstone project, you’ll apply the full exploratory workflow to a real-world dataset — building confidence in navigating unfamiliar data and translating exploration into meaningful, actionable understanding.
